Close to everything fun in Destin! Garage was unexpected and a nice surprise! The home is spacious and my family of 8 all had plenty of space! The pool was a nice touch, just wished it was covered to keep out leaves and other stuff! There was however a pool tool to get the stuff out of the pool so that was nice that we didn’t have to just deal with it! The property (resort) is beautiful! Lots to do on the grounds if you want a day in and not to leave the home/resort! Check in was a breeze, which was important to me because we got in sooo late and we could just go directly to the property and get settled in! Oh and it has 3 bathrooms!!!! NICE!!! one was a jack and Jill bathroom but for the most part all of the bedrooms have a bathroom attached!! The patio area was also really nice! All in all this was a great stay’ I will def stay again!! Ohhh and if you love to read the home owner has sooo many GREAT books!! Depending on the length of your stay you could really get some good reading in!!!
The space, location, and total experience were exceptional. We would stay here again.
This house has fit the special needs of our family for over 20 years. It’s a timeless reminder of the history of our family. Any family would love to make similar memories.
guard. Daily trash pick up as long as it’s in bags. Easy access to the garage—definitely a plus! the security The beach is about a 10 min walk
The unit had so much potential, but missed the mark because it was so dirty. The floors seemed like they hadn’t been cleaned in awhile, so much so that anytime my nephew (1 y/o) crawled on the floor he was immediately covered in dirt. We found multiple cockroaches in one of the bedrooms too. The unit had everything we were hoping for as far as a kitchen to cook in with supplies, the pool and sunroom, and a big open living area for entertaining a family of 7, but the lack of cleanliness would deter us from staying in this unit again. The furniture in the common area was really uncomfortable and there were no pillows or blankets.
Checkin was super confusing. We planned to rent a golf cart for use at the resort. We also wanted to pre-rent beach chairs. I emailed Vacasa about these things, and to ask about the shuttle service. I was told golf carts are fine, and the shuttle service does not run that time of year (October). They weren’t sure about beach umbrellas, but there were rentals 2.7mi down the beach (WHAT?). Thank goodness I never got around to booking the golf cart. On the way to Tops’l, I received check in instructions that said no golf carts allowed. I emailed again, then finally called Vacasa. They were obviously not at the property location and had no clue about the information they were giving to me. I was advised to call Tops’l front office. From there, I found out this: no golf carts allowed, beach umbrellas and chairs are available for rent, and the shuttle runs from 9am to 7pm. The unit was clean upon arrival. There were plenty of towels, wash cloths and hand towels. The kitchen was stocked with cookware and utensils. The bunk beds were wobbly. Screws were loose and had to be tightened. There were no ladders to access the top bunks. Kids have to climb up and down from the end of the bed (NOT safe). I would guess all that incorrect climbing is what caused the screws to be loose and beds to be shaky. I had to move the chest of drawers away from the end of the bed, as it was a hazard for kids climbing down. The top bunk mattresses exceeded the height of the railing (again, a safety issue). The dishwasher was broken. I called maintenance about it and the shaky beds. They did come to tighten the screws, but the dishwasher was never fixed. The townhouse is a short walk to the beach, as an adult, but not so much for 4 kids and all the stuff that goes with them. We thought it would be too much of a hassle to load on the shuttle with other people on there, so we made the decision to drive. Guess what? There’s no beach parking. One person would drop the rest of us off, drive back to the house, then, walk back to the beach. We weren’t ready to leave by 7, so it was walk back to the house, drive to the beach access, load everyone up, and drive back. This was not hard, but not convenient either. All in all, it was not a bad stay, but I would not stay there again or recommend it to anyone else.
